Power has been fully restored to the campus at MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility. We anticipate that video visits can resume shortly.
Update: Feb. 15, 2021
Power was partially restored to MacLaren as of 7:30 pm on Feb. 14, thanks to hard work from OYA’s Physical Plant Operations and PGE. Power has not been restored to all buildings on campus, but has been restored to all living units. Hot food service is also fully restored.
The campus does not yet have WiFi.

The recent winter storm has knocked out power for MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility. The facility’s backup generator has not been able to fix the problem because of the impact of ice and freezing temperatures on other parts of the electrical system.
The youth are safe in their living units and have been supplied with extra clothing and blankets. The facility is bringing in hot meals once a day from outside, supplementing the two additional daily meals that can be eaten cold. Youth will be calling their family members via cell phone.
We do not have a timeline for a solution. However, OYA staff are working closely with the power company to fix the issue. They are also working with the state Emergency Coordination Center. Additional generators will be borrowed on a temporary basis from the Department of Corrections, the National Guard, and Oregon Correctional Enterprises.
We will provide updates when we have them.
